How to fix vertical smear on Point Grey Flea3 GigE Digital Camera?
- JjosephrobersonJul 29, 2025
Vertical smear artifacts can occur due to scattered photons leaking into the shielded vertical shift register. To address this, reduce the bright light source. Also, consider increasing the shutter time or lowering the frame rate to increase the amount of time light is collected in the photosensors. Turning the light source off before and after exposure using a mechanical or LCD shutter may help. Alternatively, use a pulsed or flashed light source. Increasing light collimation with a lens with variable aperture can also help, but note that closing the iris will darken the image. Finally, utilize a low smear trigger mode if available on your model.
