Malfunction, cause, and remedy
In
addition to careful operation and maintenance of the engine, it is important to resolve malfunctions
quickly. For the causes listed in the following table, you can refer to the information from this chapter.
You can resolve some of the malfunctions on your own.
Have malfunctions that you cannot eliminate yourself rectified at a qualified specialist workshop. The
engine supplier recommends that you use its service support point as this has the necessary specialist
knowledge and tools to carry out the required work. Safety-related work and work on safety systems,
in particular, must never be carried out by anyone else other than a professional service centre.

Risk of engine damage
Incorrect
maintenance and repair work can cause damage to the engine and therefore increase the
risks of accidents.
► Have engine maintenance and repair work carried out by suitably trained personnel only.
► Work on, or modifications to the engine must always be carried out by qualified personnel who
have the necessary specialist knowledge and tools to carry out the required work.
► The engine supplier recommends that you use its service support point for this.
