Generallocationrequirements
Whenselectingalocationfortheunititisimportanttoconsideranumberoffactors.

oensureoptimumperformance,itisrecommendedthatthedisplayistemporarilypoweredupand
tested,atthechosenlocation,priortoinstallation.
Ventilationrequirements
Toprovideadequateairflow:
•Ensurethatequipmentismountedinacompartmentofsuitablesize.
•Ensurethatventilationholesarenotobstructed.
•Ensureadequateseparationofequipment.
Wateringress
Basestation—AlthoughtheBasestationiswaterprooftoIPx6andIPx7,itisrecommendedthat
theBasestationismountedbelowdecks,inanareaprotectedfromprolongedanddirectexposure
torainandsaltspray.
Wiredhandset—TheHandsethasbeendesignedtobemountedaboveorbelowdecksandis
ratedtoIPx6andIPx7.
Wired(Passive)speaker—Thespeakershasbeendesignedtobemountedaboveorbelowdecks
andareratedtoIPx6andIPx7.
Mountingsurfacerequirements
Whenselectingamountingsurfaceensure:
•theproductwillbeadequatelysupportedonasecure,flatsurface.DoNOTmountunitsorcut
holesinplaceswhichmaydamagethestructureofthevessel.
•sufficientspaceisavailablearoundtheproduct.
•thereisnothingbehindthemountingsurfacethatmaybedamagedwhendrilling.
Cableroutingrequirements
Ensureyouhaveidentifiedtheroutethatallrequiredcableswilltakeandthatsufficientspaceis
availabletoallowconnectionofcables:
•Unlessotherwisestated,aminimumcablebendradiusof100mm(3.94in)isrequired.
•Wherenecessary,cablesupportsshouldbeusedtopreventstressonconnectors.
Electricalinterference
Selectalocationthatisfarenoughawayfromequipmentthatmaycauseinterference,suchas
motors,generatorsandradiotransmitters/receivers.
Powersupply
Selectalocationthatisascloseaspossibletothevessel’sDCpowersupply.Thiswillhelpto
keepcablerunstoaminimum.
RFinterference
Certainthird-partyexternalelectricalequipmentcancauseRadioFrequency(RF)interferencewith
GNSS(GPS),AISorVHFdevices,iftheexternalequipmentisnotadequatelyinsulatedandemits
excessivelevelsofelectromagneticinterference(EMI).
SomecommonexamplesofsuchexternalequipmentincludeLEDlighting(e.g.:navigationlights,
searchlightsandfloodlights,interiorandexteriorlights)andterrestrialTVtuners.
Tominimizeinterferencefromsuchequipment:
•KeepitasfarawayfromGNSS(GPS),AISorVHFproductsandtheirantennasaspossible.
