4.9ConnectingGNSS(GPS)andVHFantennas

Y ourradiorequiresaVHFantennatofunctionasaradio.Ifyouintendtousetheradio’sinternal

GNSS(GPS)receiverthenyouwillalsorequireaGNSS(GPS)passiveantennatobeconnected.The

antennaconnectionscanbeprotectedsothattheycannotcomeintocontactwithanygrounded

baremetal.Thisisespeciallyimportantwheninstallingtheradioonmetalstructure.

Pre-requisites:

•Ensureyouhaveinstalledyourantennasinaccordancewiththeinstructionssuppliedwiththe

antennas.

•EnsurethecableshavebeenproperlyroutedtotheBasestationandthatsufﬁcientcablelengthis

availabletomaketheconnections.

Note:

•Followsteps2and3toinstalltheantennaswithnoprotection.

•WhenmountingtheBasestationonmetalstructure

,inordertopreventgalvaniccorrosion,

ensureALLstepsarefollowedsothattheantennasareisolatedfromthevessel’smetalwork.
