Performing a test
After it is powered on and coded, the meter expects you to insert a test strip. Using the barcode
on the back of the strip, the meter detects which test parameter is to be measured and which
code is needed for this test strip. If the code strip has not been read yet, an error message is dis-
played after inserting the test strip.
1 Check the following before performing
the test:
Check that all of the display elements are
displayed properly. Results may be mis-
read if a segment is missing.
Are date and time correct? If you want the
test result to be saved with date/time
information, enter the correct settings
(see description starting on page 26).
Check the battery level. When the battery
icon appears for the first time (outside the
display test), you will only be able to per-
form a few more tests. Replace the batter-
ies as soon as possible (see description
starting on page 20).
2 Take a test strip from the test strip
container.
NOTICE
Close the container immediately after opening to protect the desiccant,
otherwise the test strips may become unusable before their expiration
date. Prevent liquids from entering the test strip container. Do not mix up
the caps of different test strip containers!
For cholesterol and glucose test strips:
Before performing a test, please check the
colour in the round window on the back of the
test strip for discoloration. If you detect discol-
oration, this test strip is unusable. Refer to the
package insert for details.
