If you don't quote a suffix for keywords that support one, a 1 is assumed.
Example:
DISPlay[:WINDow<1...4>]:ZOOM:STATe enables the zoom in a particular mea-
surement window, selected by the suffix at WINDow.
DISPlay:WINDow4:ZOOM:STATe ON refers to window 4.
8.1.4 Optional Keywords
Some keywords are optional and are only part of the syntax because of SCPI compli-
ance. You can include them in the header or not.
Note that if an optional keyword has a numeric suffix and you need to use the suffix,
you have to include the optional keyword. Otherwise, the suffix of the missing keyword
is assumed to be the value 1.
Optional keywords are emphasized with square brackets.
Example:
Without a numeric suffix in the optional keyword:
[SENSe:]FREQuency:CENTer is the same as FREQuency:CENTer
With a numeric suffix in the optional keyword:
DISPlay[:WINDow<1...4>]:ZOOM:STATe
DISPlay:ZOOM:STATe ON enables the zoom in window 1 (no suffix).
DISPlay:WINDow4:ZOOM:STATe ON enables the zoom in window 4.
8.1.5 Alternative Keywords
A vertical stroke indicates alternatives for a specific keyword. You can use both key-
words to the same effect.
Example:
[SENSe:]BANDwidth|BWIDth[:RESolution]
In the short form without optional keywords, BAND 1MHZ would have the same effect
as BWID 1MHZ.
8.1.6 SCPI Parameters
Many commands feature one or more parameters.
If a command supports more than one parameter, these are separated by a comma.
Example:
LAYout:ADD:WINDow Spectrum,LEFT,MTABle
