MODEL 2700 SECTION 6.0
TROUBLESHOOTING
TABLE 6-1. Diagnostic Fault Messages (Cont)
Diagnostic Message Description and Suggested Actions
RAM ERROR Analyzer recognizes a RAM or ROM failure.
ROM ERROR • Toggle power.
If error persists, replace electronics Module. See Replacement Parts in Table 5-1.
ERROR, NO SENSORS Sensor not responding to queries.
DETECTED • Toggle Power.
• Check sensor wiring.
Sensor Faults
Indicates a break in the Sensor temperature circuit.
RTD OPEN • Check sensor wiring, especially at the terminals.
• Replace sensor and wiring if necessary.
RTD SHORTED Indicates a short circuit in the temperature circuit of the sensor.
• Check sensor wiring, especially at the terminals.
• Possible internal cell leakage.
• Replace sensor and wiring if necessary.
ELECTRODES OPEN Indicates a break in the sensor wiring.
(conductivity sensors) • Sensor out of process or exposed to air. Insure sensor is in process.
• Check the sensor wiring, especially at the terminals.
• Process excessively outside of normal operating range.
• Check for very dirty electrodes.
• Replace sensor and wiring if necessary.
ELECTRODE SHORTED Indicates a short circuit, either in the sensor wiring, or the sensor itself.
(conductivity sensors) • Check the sensor wiring, especially at the terminals.
• Replace sensor and wiring if necessary.
• Possible internal cell leakage.
• Check for foreign material between electrodes.
• Possible high conductivity solution.
• Check process conductivity - possibly out of range
SENSOR MALFUNCTION Sensor not responding to Analyzer requests.
• Toggle power. Replace sensor if same error continues.
• Loose or broken wire between sensor and analyzer.
PARITY ERROR Data integrity test failed. Excessive noise on data line. (Will not be
ECHO ERROR seen in data as information is ignored when integrity test fails.)
ECHO PARITY ERROR • Check sensor wiring.
OUT OF RANGE (conductivity) 4 Electrode Sensors only. Out of range of sensor.
LESS THAN 500 µS. 4 Electrode Sensors only.
(conductivity) • Sensor in water, or has just been cleaned in water used to flush system.
• Sensor in Air.
pH OUT OF RANGE Sensor pH out of range (-4 to 16 pH).
• Sensor out of process.
• Electrical noise present.
• Reference electrode poisoned.
• Incorrect wiring.
mV OUT OF RANGE Sensor mV out of range (-1400 to 1400 mV).
(ORP only) • Sensor out of process.
• Electrical noise present.
• Reference electrode poisoned.
• Incorrect wiring.
IREF OUT OF RANGE Internal Reference Voltage Out of Range.
(pH/ORP) • Problem with preamp.
• Incorrect wiring.
• Replace preamp.
VREF OUT OF RANGE Reference Electrode Voltage Out of Range
(pH/ORP) • Open lead to reference electrode
• Problem with preamp
VGLASS OUT OF RANGE Glass Electrode Voltage Out of Range
(pH/ORP) • Open lead to reference electrode
• Problem with preamp
SENSOR RESET Problem with Sensor (or pH/ORP Preamp/A-D Converter)
(pH/ORP/conductivity) • Recycle power
• Replace sensor (preamp/A-D converter for pH/ORP)
