Adjusting the chain tension
The chain must be given special attention because
the life of the sprocket assembly, crown wheel and
the chain itself depends on its good maintenance.
The area for checking the chain tension is next to
the tensioner, as shown in the image.
The vertical play of the chain in the area where the
tensioner acts should be between 10 and 15 mm .
To make the adjustment:
- Loosen the nut and the wheel shaft from
the wheel.
- Turn the 2 eccentric adjusters and symme-
trically until the proper chain tension is obtained.
Place the motorcycle in an upright position and
immobilise it at the front.
The position of the two eccentric adjusters should
be symmetrical to ensure proper alignment between
the wheel sprocket and the drive sprocket.
Check the condition and tension of the chain tension
and its greasing regularly. See Maintenance table.
