7.1 Operation of the Terminal Connectors
SIEB & MEYER uses terminal blocks by Phoenix Contact (www.phoenixcontact.com).
In this manual you find the following supplementary notes for connection via terminal
blocks:
▶ Phoenix Contact name of the terminal block (e.g."MC", "PC4")
▶ min. conductor cross-section of the terminals according to the rated current of the
SIEB & MEYER device
▶ max. conductor cross-section according to the specification of the manufacturer
Phoenix Contact
▶ max. tigthening torque of the screws for screw terminals according to the specifica-
tion of the manufacturer Phoenix Contact
7.1.1 Spring-cage Connection
The individual conductors are fixed in the terminal by
means of spring-cage connection. In order to plug and
unplug a conductor proceed as follows:
▶ Push a screwdriver into the designated groove
above the chamber to operate the spring-cage
connection as shown in the figure.
▶ Put the conductor into the chamber / remove the
conductor from the chamber.
▶ Release the screwdriver.
Note
Solid wires or conductors with ferrules can be put directly into the chamber without the
help of a screwdriver.
7.1.2 Push-in Spring Connection
Terminals using the push-in connection technology work on the pressure spring princi-
ple:
The contact spring presses the cable against the conducting copper bar. The special
spring profile allows direct and tool-free wiring of solid and flexible cables previously as-
sembled with ferrule or compressed conductor ends (0.25 mm² or greater).
