• Switch the collimator light on. The dose meter should be positioned in the center of the
light field and freely in the air to avoid back scattering radiation.
• Measure the Focus - dose meter distance (A / Fig. 2) and then the width and the length
of the light field on the surface. For optimal accuracy, place an unexposed film cassette
on the surface, and measure the exposed area width and length on the film after an
exposure has been released.
• Measure the Focus- light field/surface distance (B / Fig. 2).
• Calculate the reference area according to the following formula:
• Set kV to 102 and mAs to 20 and release an exposure.
• Record the dose value measured with the dose meter.
