8.1 Safety instructions for operation
WARNING
Danger to persons in areas with rotary and crushing motion
Machine parts driven by the linear motors can cause signicant injury, e.g. through crushing.
This is as a result of the very high speeds and acceleration rates – as well as low friction and self
clamping.
• Keep persons away from the axis traversing parts and areas where there is a danger of
crushing.
NOTICE
Material damage caused by incorrect operation
Improper operation can lead to serious material damage.
• Only operate the motor at locations equipped with full weather protection: The
environment must be dry and protected against heat and cold.
• Keep the area where the motor is installed free of all foreign bodies. Foreign bodies include
metal chips, particles, liquids, oils, screws, tools, etc.
• Only operate the motor in conjunction with eective temperature protection.
WARNING
Faults while the motor is operational
Examples of faults that indicate functional impairments are:
• Higher power consumption
• Changed temperatures
• Vibration
• Unusual noise
• Unusual smells
• Response of the monitoring devices
Faults while the motor is operational can result in death, severe injury or material damage.
• Immediately inform the maintenance personnel.
• If in doubt, shut down the motor immediately, taking into account the plant-specic safety
regulations.
