Cable glands and ttings for use in Explosive Atmospheres
1. M20 to ½ NPT adaptors, M12 connector and plugs supplied by Siemens have been approved
as part of the certication.
2. Cable glands shall be rated for a minimum ingress protection rating of IP54 and have an
ambient temperature rating suitable for the installation with a safety factor of 5 °K above the
maximum ambient.
3. The threads shall be M20 x 1.5. A sealing ring or gasket shall be used. Cable sizes of 5 to
14.3mm may be used unless otherwise restricted by the manufacturer.
4. Cable glands for use in Zone 2 explosive atmospheres shall be rated Ex e as follows:
– For use in US Zone 2 explosive atmospheres they shall be rated AEx ex or AEx eb. They
shall also be rated for Enclosure Type 4.
– For Canadian, IECEx or ATEX Zone 2 explosive atmospheres they shall be rated Ex ec or Ex
eb.
