Systematic Bearing Monitoring with SPM Software
Bearing and vibration monitoring should be part of
the normal maintenance routines. Regular measure-
ments give a much clearer picture of bearing and
machine condition than sporadic spot checks.
The recommended measuring interval for good bear-
ings is approximately two to three months. Shorter
intervals (or permanently installed monitors) are used
for more critical equipment. Damaged bearings should
be closely watched until they can be replaced.
Using SPM software is an effective means to reduce
data collecting time and the administrative work con-
nected with large scale condition monitoring.
CONDMASTER supplies data entry forms, graphic
displays of measurements, and alarm lists for bea-
rings in bad condition. It can be used together with all
SPM condition monitoring instruments and systems,
but is not limited to shock pulse, vibration, and speed
readings. The user can define any other measuring
technique (for flow, pressure, temperature, etc.) and
store its data in CONDMASTER.
Manual Recording
For manual monitoring, SPM supplies follow-up forms
where bearing data, measuring date and measuring
results are recorded, and where the measured values
can be plotted as a graph.
Follow-up forms for copying are printed at the end of
this manual.
