VEHICLE OPERATIONAL GUIDELINES
Safety Guidelines
• Onlyqualiedandtrainedoperatorsmaydrivethis
vehicle.
• Driveonlyonlevelsurfacesoronsurfaceshaving
aninclineofnomorethan10%(5.6degrees).
• Driveslowlywhenmakingaturn,especiallyifthe
groundiswetorwhendrivingonanincline.
• Thisvehiclemayoverturneasilyifturnedsharplyor
whendrivenathighspeeds.
• Observealltrafcregulationsandspeedlimits.
• Keepallbodyparts(head,arms,legs)insidethis
vehiclewhileitismoving.
• Alloccupantstoremainseatedwhilethevehicleis
inmotion.
• Keepthevehicleundercontrolatalltimes.
• Yieldrightofwaytopedestrians,ambulances,re
trucks,orothervehiclesinemergencies.
• Donotovertakeanothervehicleatintersections,
blindspots,orotherdangerouslocations.
• Donotdriveoverlooseobjects,holes,orbumps.
• Yieldrightofwaytopedestriansandemergencies
vehicles.
• Stayinyourdrivinglaneundernormalconditions,
maintainingasafedistancefromallobjects.
• Keepaclearviewaheadatalltimes.
Starting:
1. Placeshiftleverisinthecenter“OFF”position.
2. Applythefootbrake.
3. Releasetheparkingbrake.
4 Turnthestartswitchtothe“ON”position.
5. Wait1-secondthenplacetheshiftleverinthe
desireddirectionoftravel.
6. Slowlydepresstheacceleratorpedal.
While driving:
• Slowdownandsoundthehorntowarnpedestrians
orwhenapproachingacornerorotherintersection.
• Norecklessdriving.
• Donotdrivethisvehicleonsteepinclinesorwhere
prohibited.
• Allowforlongerstoppingdistanceswhendriving
downagrade.
• Immediatelyreportanyaccidentsorvehicle
problemstoyoursupervisor.
• Usethelowspeedmodelwhiletowingheavyloads.
Whiletowingheavyloads,thelowspeedmodewill
increasetheefciencyofthesystemandextend
runningtimebetweencharges.
• Donotcarrymorethanthemaximumnumberof
passengersallowedforthisvehicle.
Changing Directions:
Reversingthedirectionofanelectricvehiclewhilestillin
motioniscalled“plugging”or“plugbraking.”
This vehicle is equipped with dynamic plug braking
whichallowsreversingdirectionofthevehiclewhilestill
inmotion.
Whenreversingdirectionwhilethevehicleisinmotion,
thecontrolsystemwillsendreversecurrenttothedrive
motorandsmoothlyslowtoastopthenaccelerateinthe
oppositedirection.
Donotrelyonplugbrakingtostopquicklysuchasin
anemergency.
Towing Loads
• Donotexceedthetowingcapacityofthevehicle.
• Donotexceedtheloadcapacityofthetrailer.Refer
todocumentationsuppliedwithyourtrailerfor
informationregardingloadcapacityofthetrailer.
• Makesureallloadsaresecurelytieddown.Refer
todocumentationsuppliedwithyourtrailerfor
informationregardingattachingloadstothetrailer.
• Donotbackupwhentowingmorethanonetrailer.
• Driveslowlywhentowingloadswithahighcenter
ofgravity.
• Whenturning,besuretoallowfor“cornercutting”
ofthetrailer.
• Allowforlongerstoppingdistanceswhentowing
heavyloads.
