DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
1. Description
A. General
The Mission Seat ETSO MBCS14550 is described in this section. Technical characteristics are given for the
seat.
The seat (Fig 1, Sheet 1 and Fig 1, Sheet 2) comprises of a lower frame, a bucket assembly and a backrest
assembly. Tracks on the outside of the lower frame hold the bucket assembly, which can move vertically in
the tracks giving a Seat Reference Point (SRP) between a minimum height of 15.42 in. (392 mm) and a
maximum height 22.30 in. (566.4 mm). The backrest assembly is attached to the bucket assembly by two
pivot bearings and two racks. The racks allow adjustment of the back angle between 10 degrees and 35
degrees.
The seat is mounted on a carriage floor, which is attached to the cabin floor by four feet that engage in the
aircraft floor rails. Two locking plungers, either side of the centre section, engage recesses in the floor rails to
prevent movement of the seat. The seat is positioned fore/aft facing for take-off and landing.
The mission seat has the parts that follow:
- 5-point harness
- Harness lock/unlock lever
- Raise/lower lever
- Recline lever
- Fore/aft lever
- Rotation lever
- Floor attachments
- Adjustable headrest
- Adjustable armrests
- Cushions.
