3. Procedure
A. Replacement of seat labels.
(Ref. IPL Fig 1, Sheets 1 and 9)
(1) Record the position of the old label before it is removed.
(2) Remove the old label (70), (75), (80), (750) or (785) as necessary.
WARNING
APPROVED CLEANING AGENT IS A DANGEROUS MATERIAL. COMPLY WITH THE
SAFETY DATA SHEET AND APPLY AS SHOWN IN THE INSTRUCTIONS OF
MANUFACTURER. FAILURE TO COMPLY CAN RESULT IN INJURY OR ILLNESS TO
PERSONNEL.
(3) Use an approved cleaning agent (refer to SILMB518) to clean the mounting surfaces. While the
surface is still wet, wipe thoroughly with a clean, dry cloth. Avoid finger contact with the cleaned
surface.
(4) Hold the label on the edges and peel away the backing paper. Take care not to let your fingers come
in contact with the adhesive.
(5) Attach the label to the seat in the required position.
(6) Use a roller, firm hand pressure, or other suitable means that does not damage the face of the label,
to firmly press the label in place. Apply pressure over the entire face of the label, with particular
attention given to the edges and corners.
NOTE
If a crack is found which is greater than 0.75 in. (19 mm) in length, the part should be replaced and
not repaired.
B. Repair cracks on the skins of the backrest and bucket assembly.
(Ref. IPL Fig 1, Sheets 3, 5, 10 and 15)
(1) Remove the 5-point harness (10), sitting cushion assembly (65), cushion back - front (55) and
cushion back - rear (60), refer to “DISASSEMBLY” on page 301.
CAUTION
BE AWARE OF OTHER COMPONENTS IN THE DRILLING AREA. USE A DRILL STOP
TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO OTHER COMPONENTS.
CAUTION
DO NOT STOP DRILL CRACKS IN THE SKIN OF THE BUCKET ASSEMBLY THAT ARE
ADJACENT TO OTHER SEAT PARTS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION,
DAMAGE TO THE SEAT CAN OCCUR.
(2) Drill a 0.125 in. diameter hole in the end of the crack, make sure the crack end is completely removed.
(3) Remove burrs or sharp edges from the repair area.
(4) Make sure all swarf is removed from the seat.
