E. Rotational checks.
(Ref. IPL Fig 1, Sheets 5, 11, 12 and 14)
WARNING
WHEN YOU HAVE FINISHED MOVING THE SEAT TO A NEW POSITION, MAKE SURE
IT IS LOCKED TO THE CARRIAGE FLOOR. IF THE SEAT IS NOT LOCKED IT CAN
MOVE SUDDENLY IF A FORCE IS APPLIED. IF THE SEAT MOVES SUDDENLY, IT
CAN KILL OR CAUSE INJURY.
(1) Do the seat rotation check as follows:
(a) Operate the rotate lever (645) and make sure the locking plunger (500) freely retracts.
(b) Sit in the seat.
(c) Make sure you can freely turn the seat through 360 degrees on the carriage floor. As you turn
the seat, release the handle several times to make sure the seat locks into any one of the 24
locking positions.
NOTE
The locking plunger has two diameters. When correctly extended, the bottom of the
large diameter either touches the top of the carriage floor or has a maximum gap of
0.010 in. and the smaller diameter goes through the surface of the carriage floor.
(d) With the seat locked in position, visually check the locking plunger (500) for correct extension.
- Push the locking plunger (500) inwards until the spring (490) is just in compression then re-
lease pressure on the plunger.
- Make sure the bottom of the plungers large diameter is either touching the top of the carriage
floor (170) or has a maximum gap of 0.010 in. and the smaller diameter goes through the sur-
face of the carriage floor.
(2) If the locking plunger (500) does not release or engage when the rotate lever (645) is operated:
(a) Replace the rotate cable assembly (665), refer to “DISASSEMBLY” on page 301 and “ASSEM-
BLY AND STORAGE” on page 701.
(b) Do step E. (1) again.
