2. Detailed description
A. 5-point harness
The 5-point harness has two shoulder straps, two adjustable lap-straps and a negative g strap. The
shoulder straps are connected to locking reels installed on spools mounted behind the backrest assembly.
The adjustable lap straps are connected to spools at the sides of the seat. The negative g strap is
connected to a spool on the front of the seat. The five lugs of the harness are installed in a Quick Release
Box (QRB).
Two harness guides mounted on top of the backrest assembly keeps the shoulder straps in the correct
position as they travel over the top of the backrest assembly. A patch, above the adjustment buckle on
each shoulder strap, stops the shoulder strap before the adjustment buckle hits the harness guides.
B. Harness lock/unlock lever
The harness lock/unlock lever is positioned on the rear LH side of the seat. It uses cables to operate the
shoulder strap locking reels. The locking reels have two settings, down (LOCK) and up (UNLOCK),
selected by a harness lock/unlock lever. In the LOCK condition, the locking reels lock the shoulder straps
and thus prevent all forward movement. In the UNLOCK condition the locking reels unlock the shoulder
straps to allow the occupant to move forward and turn in the seat, unless the movement is rapid. Rapid
movements of the shoulder straps cause the locking reels to lock.
