2. Testing and fault isolation
A. Harness reels.
(Ref. IPL Fig 1, Sheet 4)
NOTE
The operating cables, harness lock/unlock lever and harness reels are part of the 5-point
harness (10).
NOTE
Test both harness reels at the same time.
NOTE
If the harness webbing twists during retraction:
- Move the harness lock/unlock lever to the up (UNLOCK) position.
- Slowly pull on the harness webbing until the twisted part of the webbing is clear of the reel.
(1) Harness reels.
(Ref. IPL Fig 1, Sheet 4)
(a) Move the harness lock/unlock lever to the up (UNLOCK) position and make sure the harness
webbing moves in and out freely.
(b) Quickly pull on the harness webbing and make sure the harness reel “Auto Lock” feature pre-
vents the webbing from extending from the harness reel.
(c) If a harness reel does not lock, replace the 5-point harness (10).
(d) With the harness webbing extended approximately 20 in. (508 mm), move the harness lock/un-
lock lever to the down (LOCK) position and make sure the harness webbing will go in but cannot
be pulled out.
(e) If the shoulder harness reel does not lock when the harness lock/unlock lever is in the down
(LOCK) position, replace the 5-point harness (10).
(f) If the reel operating cable is broken, replace the 5-point harness (10).
