MISSION SEAT ETSO
MAINTENANCE MANUAL
MB680
C. Raise/lower lever
The raise/lower lever is positioned below the bucket assembly on the RH side of the seat. It allows the
height of the seat to be adjusted over a range of approximately 6.88 in (175 mm). The seat is held in
position by two vertical lock plungers that lock the bucket assembly to the lower frame. The vertical lock
plungers are connected to the RAISE/LWR lever by a vertical adjustment cable.
D. Recline lever
The recline lever is positioned below the bucket assembly on the RH side of the seat and is connected to
two recline plungers by a recline cable. The recline plungers engage the teeth of two racks to lock the
backrest assembly at reclined positions between 10 degrees (upright) and 35 degrees (fully reclined).
E. Fore/aft lever
The fore/aft lever is positioned below the bucket assembly on the LH side of the seat. The fore aft lever
operates a central locking mechanism that connects to two locking plungers on either side of the seat. The
plungers engage in recesses in the floor rail and prevent movement of the seat.
F. Rotation lever
The rotation lever is positioned below the bucket assembly on the RH side of the seat and it allows the
seat to be turned through 360 degrees. It is connected to a cable that operates a spring-loaded locking
plunger mounted on the LH side of the rear lower cross beam. The plunger engages holes in the carriage
floor at intervals of 15 degrees.
G. Floor attachments
A foot at each corner of the carriage floor attaches the seat to the rails in the aircraft floor. Each foot also
engages a top floor fitting on the lower frame to lock the lower frame to the carriage floor.
A track locking pin is installed at each foot. This pin is pushed into the aircraft floor track when the seat is
installed and prevents the seat from coming out of the floor track during normal fore and aft adjustment. A
spring-loaded secure locking plunger holds the track locking pin in position.
H. Headrest
The headrest is installed into the top of the backrest assembly and can be adjusted for a height adjustment
of approximately 3.1 inch and an angle adjustment of 60 degrees in 10 degree increments. An internal lock
mechanism holds the headrest at the set angle.
I. Armrests
An armrest is installed at each side of the backrest assembly. The armrests have two positions, extended
for use and stowed. In the extended position the angle of the armrest can be adjusted from 15 degrees
above to 10 degrees below the horizontal. In the stowed position, the armrests are vertical and pushed
behind the backrest assembly.
J. Cushions
Mission seats have three cushions as follows:
- Sitting cushion assembly
- Back cushion assembly
- Lumbar cushion.
