PrimingHydraulicPumps
Wheneverthehydraulicsystemisushed,thehydraulicsystemischargedor
hydrauliccomponentsareinstalled,itisimportanttoproperlyprimethehydraulic
pumps.Hydraulicpumpprimingensuresthatthegearpumpandpiston(traction)
pumphaveadequateoilduringinitialstart−upandrunning.Thepumpscanbe
primedbyusingaremotestarterswitch(seeSpecialT ools(page2–16))tocrank
enginewhichallowsthepumpstoprime.
Usethefollowingproceduretoprimethehydraulicpumps:
1.MakesurethatignitionswitchisintheOFFpositionandkeyisremoved
fromswitch.

3.Connectremotestarterswitchelectricalleadstothestartermotorsolenoid
B+terminalandthepositivepostofthebattery.
4.Engageremotestarterswitchandcrankstarterforthirty(30)secondsto
primehydraulicpumps.Waitthirty(30)secondstoallowthestartermotor
andstartersolenoidtocool.Repeatcrankingprocedureasecondtime.
5.Disconnectremotestarterswitchleadsfromstartermotorsolenoidterminal
andpositivepostofthebattery.
