CAUTION
Donotinstallorworkonthecuttingunitsorliftarmswiththeengine
running.Alwaysshutofftheengineandremovethekeyfromthe
keyswitch.
Thedualknobbedknife-to-reeladjustmentsystemincorporatedinthiscutting
unitsimpliestheadjustmentprocedurenecessarytodeliveroptimummowing
performance.Thepreciseadjustmentpossiblewiththisdesigngivesthe
necessarycontroltoprovideacontinualself-sharpeningaction.Thisfeature
maintainssharpcuttingedges,assuresgoodqualityofcut,andgreatlyreduces
theneedforroutinebacklapping.
Inaddition,therearrollerpositioningsystemallowsforvariousheight-of-cut
rangesandaggressivenessofcutselections.
Ifacuttingunitisdeterminedtobeoutofadjustment,completethefollowing
proceduresinthespeciedordertoadjustthecuttingunitproperly.
Note:RefertotheCuttingUnitOperator’sManualforcuttingunitadjustment
proceduresforyourReelmastermachine.
1.Adjustthebedknifeparalleltothereel.
2.Determinethedesiredheight-of-cutrangeandinstalltherearrollermounting
shim(s)accordingly.
3.Adjusttheheight-of-cut.

Note:Cuttingunitsthathavealuminumsideplatesdonotrequirereelbearing
adjustment.
Toensurecutqualityandlonglifeofthecuttingreelbearingsonacuttingunit
withcastironsideplates,periodicallycheckthereelbearingadjustment.
CheckingtheReelBearingAdjustment
1.Removethehydraulicreelmotorfromthecuttingunit;refertoRemovingthe
HydraulicReelMotor(page9–17).
2.Loosenthebedknifetoreeladjustmentuntilnocontactexists;refertothe
CuttingUnitOperator’sManual.
CAUTION
Contactwiththereel,bedknife,orothercuttingunitpartscanresult
inpersonalinjury.
Useheavygloveswhenhandlingthecuttingreel.
3.Holdontothereelshaftandtrytomovethereelassemblysidetoside.If
reelend-playexists,sidetosidemovementwillbedetected.
