StoringtheMachine
ServiceInterval:Every200hours—Inspectthe
serviceandparkingbrakes.
Every400hours—Visuallyinspectthebrakes
forwornbrakeshoes.
Yearly
1.Positionthemachineonalevelsurface,engage
theparkingbrake,shutofftheengine,and
removethekeyfromthekeyswitch.
2.Cleandirtandgrimefromtheentiremachine,
includingtheoutsideoftheenginecylinderhead
nsandblowerhousing.
Important:Youcanwashthemachine
withmilddetergentandwater.Donot
usehigh-pressurewatertowashthe
machine.Pressurewashingthemachine
maydamagetheelectricalsystemorwash
awaynecessarygreaseatfrictionpoints.
Avoidexcessiveuseofwater,especiallynear
thecontrolpanel,lights,engine,andbattery.
3.Checkandadjustthebrakepedalandparking
brake,ifnecessary;refertoAdjustingtheBrake
Pedal(page57)andAdjustingtheParking
Brake(page56).
4.Servicetheaircleaner;refertoServicingtheAir
Filter(page40).
5.Greasethemachine;refertoGreasingthe
BearingsandtheBushings(page39).
6.Changetheengineoilandlter;referto
ServicingtheEngineOil(page41).
7.Checkthetirepressure;refertoCheckingthe
TirePressure(page21).
8.Forstorageover30days,preparethefuel
systemasfollows:
A.Addapetroleumbased
stabilizer/conditionertothefuelinthe
tank.Donotuseanalcohol-basedstabilizer
(ethanolormethanol).
Important:Donotstorefuelcontaining
stabilizer/conditionerlongerthanthe
durationrecommendedbythefuel
stabilizermanufacturer.
B.Runtheenginetodistributeconditionedfuel
throughthefuelsystemfor5minutes.
C.Shutofftheengine,allowittocool,and
drainthefueltank.
D.Starttheengineandrunituntilitstops.
E.Startandruntheengineagainuntilitdoes
notstartagain.
F.Disposeofdrainedfuelproperly.Recycle
asperlocalcodes.
9.Removethesparkplugsandchecktheir
condition;refertoServicingtheSparkPlugs
(page43).
10.Withthesparkplugsremovedfromtheengine,
pour15ml(2tablespoons)ofengineoilintothe
spark-plughole.
11.Usethestartertocranktheengineanddistribute
theoilinsidethecylinder.
12.Installthesparkplugsandtighteneachoneto
therecommendedtorque;refertoServicingthe
SparkPlugs(page43).
Note:Donotinstallthespark-plugwiresonthe
sparkplugs.
13.Checktheantifreezeprotectionandadda50/50
solutionofwaterandantifreezeasneededfor
expectedminimumtemperatureinyourarea.
14.Removethebatteryfromthechassis,and
chargeitfully;refertoServicingtheBattery
(page47).
Note:Donotconnectthebatterycablestothe
batterypostsduringstorage.
Important:Thebatterymustbefully
chargedtopreventitfromfreezingandbeing
damagedattemperaturesbelow0°C(32°F).
Afullychargedbatterymaintainsitscharge
forabout50daysattemperatureslower
than4°C(40°F).Ifthetemperatureswillbe
above4°C(40°F),checkthewaterlevelinthe
batteryandchargeitevery30days.
15.Checkandtightenallfasteners.Repairor
replaceanypartthatisdamaged.
16.Paintallscratchedorbaremetalsurfaces
withpaintavailablefromyourauthorizedToro
distributor.
17.Storethemachineinaclean,drygarageor
storagearea.
18.Removethekeyfromthekeyswitchandputitin
asafeplacethatisoutofthereachofchildren.
19.Coverthemachinetoprotectitandkeepitclean.
