When y ou car ry the regist ered key with
smart entry and start system into the ac-
tuati on area, you can l ock and unloc k al l
the door s w ithout usi ng the k ey. For fur-
ther infor mation of actuati on ar ea, s ee
“Smart entry and start system” on page
48 in this Section.
Locking operation
Push the lock button on t he outside
door handle slowly and f irmly. All the
doors lock simult aneously. At this time
turn signal li ghts flash once.
In the followi ng cases , you cannot be
lock ed by pushi ng the l ock button and a
beep will sound as an indicat or.
D When any of t he door s i s not s ecurely
clos ed. A beep will s ound continuous ly
for 10 seconds .
D When the engine is not turned off. A
beep will sound c ontinuous ly for 60
seconds .
D When the key is lef t in the v ehicl e. A
beep will s ound cont inuously for 2 s ec-
onds.
D When attempt ing to l ock the door s wi th
the key near a window or a door han-
dle. A beep wil l sound c ontinuous ly for
2 seconds.
The beep may not sound if the k ey is on
the inst rument panel, on the luggage
room, i n the glov e box or on the floor,
etc.
