Please refer to (“AC Generator Repair,” p. 30) for the procedure for removal and replacement of the AC Generator Belt.
Using Steps 1 to 4 of this procedure will give access to this belt.
Installation of Belt, Pulley and Tensioner
1. Place the 10PK Belt on the clutch pulley and secure with a tie wrap.
2. Position/ Lock the tensioner
Place the Tensioner into the machined slot of the drive end motor-generator bracket.
Use the Lock plate and hand tight the Fasteners to secure the Tensioner in place.
3. Assemble the Compressor Clutch Sub-assembly to the Powerpack assembly.
4. Alignment of Motor Pulley with reference to Clutch Pulley.
Align the grooves of the Motor Pulley to Clutch Pulley using Laser Alignment tool.
Lock the Motor Pulley once aligned.
Wrap the Belt around the Motor Pulley
NNoottee:: Ensure the fasteners in Lock plate of Tensioner arm is hand tight. Screw the Tensioner Bolt such that the
Tensioner arm slides and tensions the belt.
5. Tensioning the Belt. See (“Tensioning the Belt,” p. 89)
6. Torque the Lock Plate Bolts and re-check the Belt Tension.
7. Monitor the tension during Initial Run in period.
Tensioning the Belt
A Belt Re-Tension should be done for the following reasons:
1. When the Lower Tension limit is reached for A360, the lower tension limit is 70 to 76 Hz
Before tensioning the Belt:
Ensure the belt is seating in the corresponding Pulley groove profile.
Ensure the belt routing is done as per below image.
Tension the belt by tightening the tensioner bolt.
Set the tension by measuring the belt frequency on the belt span as shown below.
Frequency Measurement method using the SKF Belt Frequency Meter.
NNoottee:: This is our recommended tool for this process, however your current 2041903TKA tensioning tool will suffice if
you so prefer.
Make sure that the drive system you are measuring is stationary. Never measure a belt drive that is still in operation.
SKF Belt Frequency Meter is a two-component system that delivers contact-free tension measurements for a range
of belt types. SKF measurement tool is extremely easy-to-use, delivering fast, repeatable results in just a few simple
steps:
Key in the span length (370 mm) and mass data (0.0159 Kg/m/rib)
Aim sensor at a distance of 10 mm perpendicular to belt and at the center of the belt span (Length and Width), then
pluck or tap the belt.
View the measured frequency on the display.
Adjust the Tensioning mechanism until the correct frequency is measured. See (“Belt Tension,” p. 18) in the
Specifications Section for this information.
NNoottee:: Belt Frequency readings to be taken only when the belt temperature comes to room temperature or else the
Frequency readings at elevated temperature will be higher than the actual frequency.
