1. General
After you have done maintenance or you have installed new components of the piston
running system, WinGD recommends to do a runningin procedure. This makes sure
to get a correct layer of lubricating oil on the piston running system. The procedure
includes a temporary higher feed rate, refer to Fig. 1.
WinGD recommends an inspection of the cylinder liners and of the piston rings after
24 operation hours and after 72 operation hours (1, Fig. 1). For this runningin
procedure there is no limit for the engine load. If there is no damage, after 72
operation hours you can do an empirical data collection.
It is also very important that spare cylinder liners are purchased from approved
manufacturers who apply modern material and machining technologies.
