7.5.1.3 Response Time Setup
In the third line the temporal response of the instrument can be adjusted.
The MFA 9000 has a build in exponential smoothing filter, with an adjustable T90 response time. It
can be used to reduce fast variations in the reading due to fluctuation in the gas concentrations
within the process as well as for reducing noise.
Practical T90 values for gas monitoring are from 0.5s to 10s.
The T90 response menu gives the user the possibility to set the T90 response time regarding the
application.
Note!
To turn off the exponential smoothing filter set the T90 response time to 0.0.
The real response time is governed in most cases by the gas exchange time which depends
on the pneumatic installation and flow rate of measuring gas. Usually it is at 80 l/h flow in
the regime of seconds. Assuming infinitesimal gas exchange time and a set of 0.0 for the
smoothing filter, the remaining T90 time is governed by the physics of the sensor element
and digitizing algorithm. This takes approximately 0.5 s for a 90% response of the end value.
