6.6 Error Messages and Error Codes
Error Messages (in Alphabetical Order)
The following table lists the error messages that appear on the control panel.
Note
• When a message cannot be displayed in one screen, the display switches between two or three screens
to display the entire message. The   in the following table indicates the screen switching motion of the
display.
Message Symptom/Cause/Remedy
Black Toner
ID Error
 
Press SET
Replace Toner
The toner cartridge is not appropriate for the printer.
Use an appropriate toner cartridge and install it correctly in the printer.

Cannot print PDF
Press SET
The PDF file may be print-prohibited.
PDF files that are prohibited to print cannot be printed on the printer. Cancel the job
by pressing the <Eject/Set> button on the control panel.
Check Front or
Top Cover
The front cover or top cover is open.
Close the cover.
Close Front
Cover
The front cover is open.
Close the front cover.
Close Top Cover The top cover is open.
Close the top cover by firmly pressing its center.
Cyan Toner
ID Error
 
Press SET
Replace Toner
The toner cartridge is not appropriate for the printer.
Use an appropriate toner cartridge and install it correctly in the printer.

Disk is full
Press SET
The hard disk (optional) is full.
Cancel the print job by pressing the <Eject/Set> button on the control panel.
Increase the hard disk space by deleting that are unnecessary.
Drum Cartridge
ID Error
The drum cartridge is not appropriate for the printer.
Use the drum cartridge appropriate for the printer and make sure it is loaded
correctly.

Install Drum
Cartridge
A drum cartridge is not installed.
Install a drum cartridge appropriate for the printer.

Install X
Toner Cartridge
(X: Black Cyan, Magenta, or
Yellow)
The X toner cartridge has run out of toner.
Replace the X toner cartridge.
