Busy Lamp Field (BLF)
You can use BLF to monitor a specific line for status changes on the phone. For example, you
can configure a BLF key on the phone to monitor the status of a friend’s line (busy or idle). The
BLF key icon illuminates solid red when the friend’s line is in use. For more BLF key icon, refer to
Icon indicator (associated with BLF/BLF List) on page 17.
Configuring the BLF Feature on the Phone
You need to configure the IP phone to perform BLF monitoring. IP phones being monitored do
not require any configuration.
Configuring a BLF Key
To configure a BLF key via phone user interface:
1. Tap Settings from the Home screen.
2. Tap DSS Keys from the Features block.
3. Tap the desired line key.
4. Tap the Type field.
5. Tap BLF in the pop-up dialog box.
