42 Network and drive connectivity configuration
same hub/switch and then connect NETA -21 to that hub/switch [also on same
subnet]. As long as there are no IP conflicts, all the ACS880 devices will be
connected.
Connecting multiple ACS880 devices to multiple NETA-21
Manual IP configuration is mandatory if the network set up is large (more than 6
control units) and requires multiple NETA-21 to connect the drives.
For information on the numbers of drives that can be connected to NETA-21, see this
document in ABB SharePoint.
Note: You need to log on to your Microsoft Office365 email account to view the
SharePoint content.
To configure IP address manually, navigate to Settings Device interfaces
Ethernet Settings and perform the following.
1. Set Background scan to Disabled.
2. Click Add and add desired drives by specifying the IP address.
3. Click Apply changes.
The drive appears in the device list after one minute. If the drive does not appear
automatically, refresh the page. From NETA-21 firmware version 3.10, you can view
the error codes in Device interfaces Events.
Connecting via panel bus communication
To install the ACS880 drive via the panel port,
1. configure a node ID for panel port communication.
2. Set parameter 49.01 to a unique node address between 2 and 32.
3. Refresh the settings, either by power cycling the drive, or refresh settings with
parameter 49.06.
4. When the new node ID is changed, connect to NETA-21 via a PNL port.
To make sure that the drive is detected by NETA-21, refresh the panel bus devices, by
clicking the refresh button on Settings Device interfaces Panel bus
To connect multiple ACS880 with a panel bus configuration, configure them in a daisy
chain configuration and configure all the drives to have unique node IDs. Up to 32
ACS880 devices can be connected to a single NETA-21.
