5.4.3 Functionality
The loop control functionality enables proper switching of recloser in order to sectionalize
the faulted section from the distribution system. The function can be operated in three
modes, based on the type of the recloser in the loop control scheme. The full scheme of
loop control typically consists of three types of recloser used in the loop control system
design. They are sectionalizer recloser, mid-point recloser and tie-point recloser. The
functionality of loop control function in different modes is clearly explained in the next
sections of the document.
