and electronic equipment and baeries. Sorng such waste and removing it from other forms of waste
lessens the contribuon of potenally toxic substances into municipal disposal systems and into the larger
ecosystem. Return the device to Abbo Medical at the end of its operang life.
Wireless Technology Informaon
The following table summarizes technical details of the wireless technology of the paent programmer.
Table 11. Wireless technology informaon for paent programmer
Operang frequency
(inducvely coupled device)
87.5 kHz ±2.5 kHz
Field strength (inducvely
coupled device)
32 dBµA/m at 3 m*
Eecve range 0.5–2.5 cm
Quality of service (QoS) QoS is ensured by a communicaon link between the implant and the
paent programmer, which is assessed during inial linking of the devices
and monitored throughout the system's use. If the devices cannot establish a
sucient link or if either device receives invalid data, the paent
programmer will display an error message.
Wireless security measures The wireless data that is sent between the implanted generator and the
paent programmer is through short‑range inducve coupling, which does
not propagate through free space. The paent programmer uses a
proprietary data format that is incompable with other systems.
*H-eld measurement per ETSI EN 302 195 (radio requirements for ultra-low-power acve medical
implants and peripherals)
