APPENDIX D- FIELD UPGRADE PROCEDURE
Software up-grade files can be sent to customer, by e-mail / disc for transfer onto a USB
memory device. Inserting the USB device into the rear and then powering the unit will cause
the unit to automatically down load from the memory device.
Notes: combined MP3 player / memory sticks are not compatible with the DVE5000.
Ensure only one up-grade version is present on the USB stick.
1. Copy the up-grade file to USB memory stick.
2. Plug USB stick into either of the USB ports at the DVE5000 rear panel.
3. Power up-DVE5000
The following messages will appear (some may not if module already up to date)-
Upgrade started
Upgrading out of date modules
Upgrading Etrax
Upgrading Etrax FPGA
Upgrade LBand 875
Encoder Upgrade #1 ….. 8
Upgrade HPA Ctrl 674
Upgrade Successful
Upgrade Completed Remove USB stick and power-cycle.
In the event “Upgrade failed” being displayed, an error code will be shown also –
B1 - Error upgrading unit - retry
B2 - Factory upgrade only – L Band software too old
A4 - Kernel version too old
Bx - Unknown error in upgrade - retry
Ax - Boot error; contact factory for back to base upgrade.
