Output Level:
System Gain menu controls the relative drive levels at each stage in the RF chain from
the DVE5000 source through to the final HPA power.
It is recommended that the DVE is set to -10dB output level and the gains of the block
up-converter (BUC) and the HPA set for ‘saturation’ at this drive level. This will optimise
the noise vs dynamic range of the signal throughout the system.
HPA A (B) Gain: This menu option sets the gain of the HPA(S) with an adjacent readout
of actual output power shown next to the gain adjusting parameter.
BUC Gain: This menu controls the gain of the external block up-converter.
This should be set with the DVE output set to -10dB on font panel setting and the BUC gain
adjusted for maximum output but with minimal distortion (re-growth shoulders on a modulated
carrier).
This function is not available in RS485 mode, only L-Band control mode with AUC5000, Exos
and AUC5814 block up-converter products from Advent.
Output Level: This menu controls the drive level from the DVE5000 at L-band.
