8.4. SETUP INSTRUCTIONS
a) Connect a suitable cable between the PC COM port and the RC&M connector at the
rear panel of the DVE5000 unit.
The pin connections to be used are shown in the above section.
The selection of RS232 or RS485 is controlled by pin 13 of the RC&M connector. OPEN
Circuit = RS485, GND =RS232
b) From the unit front panel, set the following parameters:
• Address
• Baud rate
These can be accessed from the REMOTE INTERFACE menu.
c) Start the remote control and monitoring software (not supplied) and set the following
parameters:
• Comm port
• Address (must be the same as the unit to be controlled)
• Baud rate (must be the same as the unit to be controlled)
• 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit
Once these are set correctly then the PC should be able to communicate with the unit.
