4.9. ASI / IF OUTPUT
Labelled ASI / IF OUT
This 75R BNC is used to provide either an ASI stream;
This can be sent to another exciter to form a multiplex or used to drive an external modulator.
The ASI output is always present in L-Band mode.
ASI output format can be OFF, 188 or 204 byte mode.
Alternatively this connector provides a 70MHz signal.
The modulation type of the 70MHz output may be DVBS, DVBS-2, DVB-T or LMS-T; modulation
parameters are listed in the specifications above.
The choice of ASI or IF is made from the output mode menu option; in ASI or L-Band mode it is
ASI, in 70MHz it becomes an RF output.
4.10. AUX I/P (PREVIOUSLY CALLED COMBINER I/P)
This 50R TNC provides an 950 - 1750MHz input port allowing this signal or signals to be
combined with the internal MPEG encoder / modulator/ L-band up-converter.
The combiner is “passive” to prevent corruption of the combined signal should the DVE5000 fail.
The combiner has a loss of approximately 6dB and this should be allowed for in the settings of
external additional carrier(s).
Note that the combiner input should be terminated with 50R.
The L-band monitor output comes after the combining process.
4.11. ETHERNET / USB PORTS
The Ethernet port is used for remote control of the DVE5000.
For further information please contact Advent Communications.
The USB ports are provided to enable the DVE5000 to have any of the internal programmable
parts up-graded in the field.
See Appendix for up-grade procedure
Software up-grade files can be sent to customers for transfer onto a USB memory device.
Inserting the USB device into the rear and then powering the unit will cause the unit to
automatically down load from the memory device.
Notes: combined MP3 player / memory sticks are not compatible with the DVE5000.
Ensure only one up-grade version is present on the USB stick.
