3. Make sure the Communication port and rate match the port that the
serial cable is plugged into and the baud rate the instrument is cong-
ured to (see §4.2.2).
4. From the Instrument model drop-down menu, select the correct model,
if necessary.
5. Once the proper parameters have been specied, click OK.
6.4 Configuring the Instrument
1. Establish a connection to the instrument (see § 6.3).
2. Go to Instrument > Congure from the main menu to open the Con-
guration Panel dialog box.

This dialog box allows you to congure the Measurement Type, Tempera-
ture Correction, Ambient Temperature, Metal type, Lock programming and
enable/set the two Alarm thresholds.
Conguration Panel Options:
• Measurement Type: Species the type of measurement that will
be performed.
• Temperature Correction: Enables and disables compensation
of resistance measurements based on temperature.
• Ambient Temperature: Allows User to enter the ambient
temperature or use the PT100 temperature probe to measure the
