CONNECTORS
The total cable length between all units must not exceed 20 meters
(65 ft).
AgilentTechnologies manufactures GPIB extender instruments
(HP/Agilent mo dels 37201A, 37204A/B) that overcome the range
limitations imp osed by the cabling rules. These extenders allow
twin-pair cable op eration up 1 km (3,280 ft), and telephone mo dem
operation over any distance. AgilentTechnologies Sales and Service
oces can provide additional information on the GPIB extenders.
The co des next to the GPIB connector, illustrated in Figure C-2,
describe the GPIB electrical capabilities of the swept signal
generator, using IEEE Std. 488-1978 mnemonics (GPIB, GP-IB,
IEEE-488, and IEC-625 are all electrically equivalent). Briey, the
mnemonics translate as follows:
SH1
Source Handshake, complete capability.
AH1
Acceptor Handshake, complete capability.
T6
: Talker; capable of basic talker, serial poll, and
unaddress if MLA.
TEO
Talker, Extended address; no capability.
L4
Listener, capable of basic listener, and unaddress if
MTA.
LEO
Listener, Extended address; no capability.
SR1
Service Request, complete capabilit y.
RL1
Remote Local, complete capabilit y.
PPO
Parallel Poll, no capability.
DC1
Device Clear, complete capabilit y.
DT1
Device Trigger, complete capability.
CO, 1, 2, 3, 28
Controller capability options; CO, no capabilities;
C1, system controller; C2, send IFC and takecharge;
C3, send REN; C28, send I. F. messages.
E1
Electrical sp ecication indicating op en collector
outputs.
These codes are describ ed completely in the
IEEE Std 488-1978
document, published by The Institute of Electrical and Electronic
Engineers, Inc., 345 East 47th Street, New York, New York 11017.
SOURCE MODULE INTERFACE sends and receives digital
and analog signals to and from an HP/Agilent 83550-Series
millimeter-wave source mo dule. With the source mo dule connected,
the swept signal generator assumes the characteristics of the source
mo dule. Refer to
