Can't Pair the Fire TV Remote App
If you're having trouble pairing or using the Fire TV Remote App, here are some solutions that may help.
Check Your Wi-Fi Connection & Settings
First make sure the device you downloaded the Fire TV Remote App to is connected to the same Wi-Fi
network as your Fire TV. To pair the Fire TV Remote App to your Fire TV, your mobile device needs to be
connected to the same network.
If you used advanced settings on your router or modem to manually assign a static IP address to your Fire TV, you'll
need to change the IP address to the "Automatic" setting. Also make sure Multicast support is enabled for your router
or modem.
Stop Display Mirroring
If you're using another mobile device to mirror your display to your Fire TV, the Fire TV Remote App won't
be able to pair.
Stop mirroring on the other device and then try again.
Disconnect Accessories or Remotes Not In Use
Try disconnecting any remotes or accessories you're not currently using from your Fire TV.
You can manage your paired remotes and Bluetooth devices by selecting Settings > Controllers &
Bluetooth Devices from the Fire TV menu.
Clear Data for the Fire TV Remote App
If you're using an iOS device, you can skip this step. iOS devices don't feature a "Clear Data" option for installed apps.
If you're using an Android device, you can try clearing application data for the Fire TV Remote App:
Open the Settings menu for your device.
Tap Apps or Application Manager.
Select the “Fire TV Remote App" from the list.
Tap Clear Data then tap OK.
Re-open the Fire TV Remote App and try pairing it to your device again.
For Fire phone, go to Basic Troubleshooting for Fire Phone for instructions on clearing application data.
Restart Your Devices
Restarting your Fire TV can resolve many issues—just disconnect the power cord (from the back of the
device or from the power outlet). Wait three seconds and then plug it back in.
Also try restarting the mobile device you used to download the Fire TV Remote App. For most devices, you
can do this by holding the power button down for a few seconds. Then select the "Turn Off" or "Power Off"
option on-screen. Once your device is off, press and hold the power button again to turn it back on.
