Set Up Parental Controls on Amazon Fire TV
You can set parental controls on Fire TV to block purchases from Amazon and restrict access to selected
content.
Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick feature parental controls settings you can manage directly on your
device.
Parental controls work by requiring entry of your Amazon Video PIN to authorise purchases from Amazon
or bypass restrictions you've set for content on your Fire TV.
With parental controls on, you're also prompted to enter your PIN for most actions that involve changing
your device settings.
To learn more about your Amazon Video PIN, go to Set Your Amazon Video PIN.
To set parental controls on your device:
Open Settings from the Fire TV menu.
Select the Parental Controls option, then press the Select button on your remote to turn parental
controls on or off.
Enter or set your PIN if prompted. Use the Menu button on your remote to change between sets of
numbers and select Next when you're done.
When entering your PIN, you need to use a Fire TV remote or the Fire TV Remote App.
Manage Parental Controls
After you set or enter your PIN, you can manage the following parental controls settings:
PIN Protect Purchases.
PIN Protect App Launches - Require your PIN to open installed apps on your device. You can still
browse Apps and Games from the Fire TV menu, but will be prompted to enter your PIN before you
can open any app installed on your device.
Viewing Restrictions - Block playback of movies and TV shows from Amazon Video and selected
third-party providers, based on their ratings category. For more information, go to Set Viewing
Restrictions on Fire TV .
Block Content Type - Block access to content categories on your Fire TV (games & apps, music and/
or photos).
When you turn on the "Block Content Type" option for games and apps, your device blocks the ability to find and
download new items from the Appstore. However, you'll still be able to launch apps and games already installed on
your device. To block access to installed apps, turn on PIN Protect App Launches (see above).
Change your PIN - Change your parental controls PIN.
