Set Up Your Network Connection
Connect your Fire TV to the Internet to access movies, TV shows, games and apps.
Amazon Fire TV
You can connect your Amazon Fire TV device using a Wi-Fi or wired (Ethernet) connection.
To connect to a Wi-Fi network:
Select Settings > System > Network from the Fire TV menu.
Your device automatically detects nearby networks (that broadcast their network name).
Select your preferred network.
If you don’t see your preferred network, it might be hidden—try selecting the Join Other Network or Rescan
options at the bottom of the list.
Enter the network password, if needed. Some networks are open for everyone to join, while others
require a password to connect.
You'll see a confirmation message on-screen when your device is connected to your selected network.
If you're switching from a wired connection to a Wi-Fi connection, first make sure to disconnect the Ethernet cable from
your Fire TV before trying to connect your device to Wi-Fi.
To connect to a wired network via an Ethernet cable (not included):
Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the back of your Fire TV and then connect the other end to
an available Ethernet port in your router or modem.
Open Settings > System > Network from the Fire TV menu.
Select the Wired option to connect. You'll see a confirmation message on-screen when the connection
is complete.
If you are setting up your device for the first time via an Ethernet cable that uses captive portal, you should start with
the Ethernet cable unplugged and set up your Fire TV. Once you have paired your Fire TV remote, you can connect
the Ethernet cable to your device and finish set up.
Fire TV Stick
You can connect your Fire TV Stick using a Wi-Fi connection.
We recommend using the HDMI extender or adapter included with your Fire TV Stick, which can optimise the physical
location of your device and improve Wi-Fi connectivity. Also make sure to use the power adapter included with your
device for optimal performance.
