Can't Connect to Wi-Fi
If you're having trouble connecting your device to a Wi-Fi network, here are some solutions that may help.
Check Your Network Information
If you're seeing a Wi-Fi password error or having trouble entering your Wi-Fi password, keep in mind that:
Your Wi-Fi password is not the same as your Amazon account password.
Passwords are case sensitive.
There may be an issue with how you're entering your password. Make sure you're entering numbers
and non-English characters correctly.
Also make sure your router, modem and/or network specifications meet the following requirements for
Amazon Fire TV devices:
Network Specifications
Open, WEP, WPA-PSK, and WPA2-PSK encrypted networks
Hidden networks
Router/Modem Specifications
B, G and N routers on 2.4 Ghz
A and N router on 5Ghz
You can also join your network using the WPS Button or PIN on your router/modem. Open Settings > System >
Network and choose the Join Using WPS Button or Join Using WPS PIN option.
If you're still having trouble, your network administrator or router/modem manufacturer will be in the best
position to help.
Check Your Network Connection
There may be an issue with your Internet service itself. Your device features a network status tool that can
help you diagnose problems with your connection and learn about ways to fix them. To use the tool, select
Settings > System > Network from the Fire TV menu, then press Play/Pause on your remote.
The tool then checks to make sure your device is connected to your selected network and that the network
itself has an active connection to the Internet. Any problems with your connection are described on-screen,
with recommended resolution steps you can try.
For more information, go to Check Your Network Status.
If this doesn't resolve the issue or if you're having trouble during first-time setup, we recommend contacting your
Internet Service Provider (ISP) for additional help.
Check Your Device Set Up
Try to move your Fire TV device, router and/or modem away from physical objects that can block your Wi-
Fi signalespecially enclosed cabinets or home entertainment centres.
For Fire TV Stick
We recommend using the HDMI extender or adapter included with your Fire TV Stick, which can optimise
the physical location of your device and improve Wi-Fi connectivity. Also make sure to use the power
adapter included with your device for optimal performance.
