10.2 HDBaseT
TM
HDBaseT is a global standard of the transmission of high-denion video and audio, Ethernet, controls, USB
and up to 100W of power over a single cable, for up to 100M/328.
The Pulse
2
-H (Ref. PLS350-H) is fully compliant with the HDBaseT Specicaons.
Equipped with HDBaseT receivers and transmiers, the Pulse
2
-H is able to input video, embedded audio,
Ethernet pass-through and manage a Power over Ethernet feed (30W) and to output video, embedded audio,
Ethernet, plus a bidireconal Serial connecon and a IR connecon.
The bidireconal serial and the IR connecon are output via the 5-pin MCO connectors associated to the
HDBaseT port.
Based on the HDBaseT specicaons of the HDBaseT Alliance, the Pulse
2
-H is compable with the list of
HDBaseT products referenced by the HDBaseT alliance. The full list of available products are listed at hps://

In case of issue with your installaon, the HDBaseT alliance has released a troubleshoot guide.

HDBaseT runs on a regular cable (Cat5E or above), so any best pracces regarding Ethernet installaons also
apply here. Cable performance is dened by the quality of the cable, the distance of the connecon, the
handling of the cable and the video resoluon expected. A rule of thumb is that the higher resoluon, the
beer the cable should be. The same goes for distance.
The cabling infrastructure in any project is likely to be around for a long me -it should last longer than
any other component in the network, and choice of cable should take into consideraon new applicaons,
addional users and potenal expansions of the whole systems.

There is a reason that the wires are twisted: it cancels out electromagnec interference (EMI) from external
sources and crosstalk from neighboring conductors. When terminang the cable, make sure not to untwist
more than half-an-inch (and preferable a quarter-of-an-inch) form the point of terminaon, and remove as
lile of the sheath as possible.

LAN cable are fairly resilient. Yet, any rough handling, such as ght e wraps, clamping or stapling can
damage the cable, compromising performance or event prevenng signal transmission. Tie cables loosely
with appropriate cable wraps, and make sure to use appropriate cable support systems when too many
cables are involved, such as trays, carriers or J-hooks. If pulling cables is necessary, make sure not to pull
too hard because that also may cause pairs to untwist and degrade performance. Cable physical protecon
safeguards the integrity of data transmission.

Another important issue for cable integrity is the bend radius. Bend radius is the inside curve of the cable
during and agter installaon. It is best to keep the minimum bend radius at least at four mes the diameter
of the cable that means that the cable should not be bent below that radius, so as not to damage it and
compromise signal transmission. Overbending may lossent or otherwise modify the wire twisng and increase
suscepbility to external noise and near-end crosstalk within the cable.
