Optimize your camera’s battery life
Arlo battery-powered cameras are not intended for continuous recording. The battery life of
your Arlo camera varies depending on usage.
Note: Cold temperatures can aect any battery’s capacity because of its chemistry. This
means that if you install your camera outside in cold temperatures, you might notice a shorter
battery duration, or a faster-than-expected drop in the displayed battery capacity.
Use these tips to maximize your camera’s battery life:
• Make sure that your camera’s rmware is up to date. For more information, see Firmware
updates on page 66.
• When you’re using your Go 2 Camera with a mobile connection, Arlo recommends placing
your camera in a location with at least three bars of mobile signal strength. You can check
the mobile signal strength from the Arlo app.
• If you’re using a WiFi connection, select a location for your camera with a strong WiFi
signal. You can check the strength of the WiFi signal from the Arlo app.
• Your Arlo camera lets you choose the quality level of the video it records. Cameras set
to high-quality video recording use more battery power than cameras set to low-quality
video recording.
• Fine-tune the position of your camera.
Angle the camera so that it only detects motion in areas of interest. This helps reduce
unwanted recordings and triggers from motion that occur in the background.
• Set a schedule for your camera.
If you don’t need your camera to activate during all hours of the day, you can set it to wake
up and use battery power only during the hours when you need it. See Schedule when
your camera is armed on page 42.
