1. Safety
The projector is Class 1 laser product that conform s with IEC E N 60825-1:2014. For Northern America, the projector is class
3R las er product up to t hrow ratio 2.5. The projector conforms with IEC 60825– 1:2007, and with p erformance standards for
laser products under 21 CFR 1040, except with respect to those characteristics authorized by Variance Number 2016–V-0144
effective M arch 6, 2017

This projector is Ris k Group 2 (R G2) ac cording to IEC EN 62471-5.
This projector may become Risk Group 3 ( RG3) when an interchangeable lens with throw ratio greater than 4.7 is installed. For
Northern America, installation requirements ac cording to Risk group 3 (RG3) must be followed w hen interchangeable lens with
throw ratio greater tha n 2.5 is installed.
Refer to the m anual for the lens list and throw ratio before operation.
Refer to chapter "Risk G roup 3 Safety", page 51for Risk Group 3 installation.
Such com bination of projector and lens are intended for professional use only, and are not intended for consum er use.
For RG3, no direct exposure to the beam shall be permitted.
For RG3, operators shall control a cces s to the beam within the hazard distance or install the product at a height that will prevent
eye exposure within the haz ard distance.
This p rojector has one (1) built-in Class 4 laser c lusters. Disas sem bly or m odication is very danger ous and should never be
attempted.
Any operation or adjustment not specic ally instructed by the user ’s guide creates the risk of hazardous laser ra diation exp o-
sure.
Do n ot o pen or disassemble the projector as this may cause dam age by the exposure of laser radiation.
General safety instructions
This product contains no user serviceable parts except the Color Wheel. Attempts to m odify/replace mec hanics or electronics
inside the housing or compar tments will violate any warranties and may be hazardo us.
Do not rem ove/replace any other parts than the Color W heel. Other parts, servic
e personnel only Warranty void if Rem oved.
Follow the ins tructions in the User Guide to replace the Color W heel.
Do n ot stare into beam when the projector is on. The bright light may result in permanent eye damage.
Not following the prescribed control, adjustment or operation procedure may cause damage by the exposure of laser radiation.
Before operating this equipment please read this manual thoroughly and retain it for future reference.
Installation and preliminary adjustments s hould be performed by properly trained and quali ed personnel.
All warnings on the projector and in the docum entation manuals must be adhered to.
All instructions for operating and use of th is equipment must be followed precisely.
All local installation cod es s hould be adhered to.
Notice on safety
This equipment is built in accordance with the requirements of the international safety standards IEC60950-1, as basis for National
safety regulation world wide. Th e safety standard covers information technology equipment including electrical business equipment
intended to operate in “normal” environments (ofces and homes). Th
is s afety standard impos es important requirements o n the
use of safety critical components, materials and insulation, in order to protect the user or operator against risk of electric shock and
energy hazard and having access to live parts. Sa fety standards also impose limits to the internal and external temperature rises,
radiation levels, m echanical stability and strength, enclosu
re construction and protection against the risk of re. S imulated single
fault condition testing reduce the risk of hazards and contribute to ensure the safety of the equipment to the user even w hen the
equipment’s normal operation fails.
Users denition
Throughout this man ual, the term SERVICE PERSONNE L refers to B arco authorized persons having a p propriate technical training
and experience necessary to be knowledgeable of potential haz ards to which they are exposed (including, bu t not limited to HIGH
VOLTAGE ELECTRIC and ELEC TRONIC CIRCUITRY and HIGH BR IGHT NESS PROJECTORS) in performing a task, and of mea-
sures to minimize the potential risk to themselves or other persons. Only Barco autho rized SERVICE P ER SONNE L, kn owledgeable
of such risks, are allowed to perform s ervice functions inside the produc t enc losure. The term U SE R and OPERATOR refers to
any person other than SE RVICE PERSO NN EL. When installing an interchangeable lens with a throw ratio that make the p rojector
become an RG3 unit, (See the chapter “approved Lenses” in the installation manual), refer to chapter "R isk Group 3 Safety", page
51 for information regarding precautions.
