2.1 General considerations
General safety i nstructions
• Before operating this equipm ent please read this manual thoroughly and retain it for future reference.
• Installation and preliminary a djustments should b e per formed by qualified B arco personnel o r by authorized B arco service deal-
ers.
• All warnings on the projector and in the doc umentation manuals should be adhered to.
• All instructions for operating and use of this equipment must be followed precisely.
• All local installation codes s hould be adhered to.
Notice on safety
This equ ipment is built in accordance with the requirements of the international safety standards IEC60950-1, EN60950-1,
UL60950-1 and CAN/CSA C22.2 No.60950-1, which are the safety standards of information technology equipmen t including
electrical business equipment. T hes e s afety standards impose important requirem ents on the use of safet
y critical co mponents,
materials and ins ulation, in order to protect the user or operator against risk of electric shock and energy haz ard and having access
to live parts. Safety standards also impose limits to the internal and external temperature rises, radiation levels, mechanical stability
and strength, enclosure construction and protection against the risk of fire. Simulated single fau
lt condition testing ensures the
safety of the equipment to the user even when the equipment’s normal operation fails.
Users definition
Throughout this ma nual, the terms SERVICE PERSONNEL and TR AINED PROJECTIONIST refers to persons having appropriate
technical training and ex perience necessary to be knowledgeable of potential hazards to which they ar e exposed (including, but not
limited to HIGH V OLTAGE ELE CTRIC and E LECTRONIC CIRCUITRY and HIGH BRIGH TNESS PROJECTORS) in performing a
task, and of m easur es to minimize the potential risk to thems elves or other persons. The term U SER and O PER ATOR refers to
any person other than SERVICE P ERSON NEL or TRAINED P RO JECTION ISTS, AUTHO RIZED to op erate professional projection
system s.
The TRA INED PRO JE CTIONIST S m ay only perform the maintenance task d escribed in the User & Installation manual. All other
maintenance tasks and service tasks must be performed by qualified SE RVICE PERS O NN EL.
The DLP Cinema Systems are intended "FOR PRO FESS IONAL USE O NLY" by AUT HO RIZED PERSO NNEL familiar with potential
hazards as sociated with high voltage, h igh intensity light beam s, ultraviolet exposure and high temperatures ge nerated by the lamp
and ass ociated circuits. Only qualified SERVIC E PERS ONNEL a nd TR AINED PRO JECT IONISTS, know ledgeable of s uch risks,
are allowed to perform service functions inside the product en closure.
