1. Safety
To prevent personal injury
• Isolate electrically before replacing the lam p o r lamp house. Caution: Hot lamp (house).
• Caution: High pres sure lamp may explode if improperly handled. Refer servicing to qualified se rvice personnel.
• To prevent injury and physical damage, always read this manual and all labels on the system before inserting the lam p casing,
powering the projector or adjusting the projector.
• To prevent injury, take note of the weight of the pro jector. Minimum 4 per sons are needed to carry the projector.
• To prevent injury, ensure that the lens, ex hausting system and all cover plates are correctly installed. See installation proce-
dures.
• Warning: high intensity light beam. NEVER look into the lens ! High luminance could result in damage to the eye.
• Warning: e xtremely high brightness lam ps: This pr ojector uses extremely high brightness lamp s. Never attempt to look
directly into the lens or at the lamp. If the projection distance is less than 6 meter, any person needs to be at least 4 meters
away from the projected image. Avoid close range reflection of the pr ojected image on any refl ecting s urface ( such as glass,
metal, … ) . When operating the projector, we strongly recommend wearing suitable safety g lasses.
• Before attempting to r emove any of the pr ojector’s covers, disconnect to the projector mains terminals and unplug the pow er
cord at UPS INLET for removal of all power from the projec tor.
• When re quired to remove all power from the projector, to access par ts inside, always disconnect to the projector mains terminals
and unplug the power cord at UPS INLET
• Do not place this equipment on an unstable c art, stand, or table. The product may fall, causing serious da mage to it and
possible injury to the user.
• It is hazardous to operate without lens or shield. Lenses , s hields or ultra violet screens s hall be changed if they have become
visibly damaged to such an extent that their effectiveness is impaired. For example by cracks or deep scratches.
• Warning: Protection from u ltraviolet radiation: Do not look directly in the light beam . The lamp contained in this p roduct is
an intense source of light and heat. One com ponent of the light emitted from this lamp is ultraviolet light. Potential eye and s kin
hazards are present when the lamp is ener gized due to ultraviolet radiation. Avoid unneces sary exposure. Protect yourself and
your employ ees by ma king them aware of the hazards and how to protect t hemselves. P rotecting the skin can be accom plished
by wearing tightly wove n garments and gloves. Protecting the eyes from UV c an be accomplished by wearing safety glasses
that are designed to provide UV protection. In addition to the UV, the visible light from the lamp is intense and should also be
considered w hen choosing protective eye wear.
• Exposure to U V radiation: Some medications a re known t o m ake individuals ex tra sensitive to UV radiation. T he A mer ican
Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) recommends o ccupational UV exposure for an-8 hour d ay to be
less than 0,1 micro-watts per s quare centimeters of effective UV radiation. A n evaluation of the workplace is advised to assure
employees are not exposed to cumulative radiation levels exceeding these government guidelines.
WARNING: Never look into the exhaust ou tput. High luminance and UV radiation could result in dam age to
the eye. The installation of an exhau st system is man datory before operating the p rojector.
To prevent fire hazard
• Do not place flamma ble o r com bustible m aterials ne ar the projector!
• Barco large screen projection products are designed and m anufactured to m eet the m ost stringent safety regu lations. This
projector radiates heat on its external surfaces and from ventilation ducts during normal operation, which is both nor mal and
safe. Expos ing flamm able or combus tible materials into close p roximity of this projector c ould result in the spontaneous ignition
of that material, resulting in a fire. For this reason, it is absolutely necessary to leave an “exclusion zone” arou nd all external
surfaces of the projector whereby no flam mable o r combustible m aterials are present. The exclusion zon e mu st be not less
than 40 c m (16”) for all DLP Cinema projectors. The exclusion zone on the lens side mu st be at least 5 m. Do not cover the
projector or the lens with any material while the pr ojector is in operation. K eep flammab le a nd com bustible materials away from
the projector at all times. Mount the projector in a well ventilated ar ea away from sources of ignition and out of direct sun light.
Never expose the pr ojector to rain or mois ture. In the event of fire, use sand, CO
2
or dry powder fire extinguishers. Never us e
water on an electrical fire. Always have service performed o n this projector by authorized B arco service personnel. Always
insist o n gen uine Barco replacement parts. Never use non-Barco replacement parts as they may degrade the safety of this
projector.
• Slots and openings in this equipm
ent are p rovided for ventilation. To ensure reliable operation of the projector and to protect
it from overheating, these openings must not be blocked or covered. The ope nings should never be blocked by placing the
projector too close to walls, or other similar surface. This projector should ne ver be placed near or over a radiator or heat
register. Th is p rojector shou
ld not be placed in a built-in installation or enclosure unless p roper ventilation is provided.
• Projection rooms must be well ventilated or c ooled in order to avoid build up of heat. It is necessary to v ent hot exhaust air from
console to the outside of the building. The mandatory exh aust system must include a blower that m aintain at least 1 0 m
3
/min
(350 CFM ) when measured at the projector exhaust opening.
• Let the projector cool c ompletely before s toring. Remove cord from the projector when storing.
• Heat s ensitive materials should not be placed in the path of the exhausted air or o n the lamp house.
