DETAIL OF COMPONENT FUNCTIONS – cont’d
MAINTENANCE STRUT
This illustration shows a typical dock leveler being supported
by the maintenance strut.
The angle bracket, that forms the upper end of the strut,
guides the deck headboard into position on the centerline of
the vertical support tubes as the deck is pulled down onto the
maintenance strut.
After the deck has been pulled down onto the strut, lift the lip
slightly to allow the lip-lock to drop down out of the locked
position, and lower the lip onto the front leg of the angle
bracket. The front leg of the angle bracket is longer than the
rear leg and is used to prevent the lip from lowering.
If for any reason the strut components are removed or are
being replaced, it must be re-assembled as shown, with the
longer leg facing forward to the lip.
