Mechanical Dock Leveler – M and FMC Group 08, Section 11, Page 1
Issue Date: 10/01/01, Rev. 0 (Part #038-550E)
REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES FOR:
Lifting Arm
Adjusting ‘U’ Bolts
Adjusting Blocks
Main Springs
This procedure requires the dock leveler
deck to be maintained in the fully raised
position without the aid of the main lift
springs or lifting arm. Block as described
below or otherwise assure the deck will not
lower before attempting repairs.
1) Raise dock leveler and position
maintenance strut and traffic barriers as
required for safety. Place a safety stand
between the deck assembly and the
lower frame to assure the deck can not
lower. Deck must be fully raised. If a
safety stand is not available, block the
deck up as described in the following
paragraph.
2) Measure the distance between the top
of the front, lower frame, cross-beam
and the underside of the deck plate at
the rear of the headboard. See Figure
49. Cut two (2) pieces of sound 4" x 4"
hardwood blocking and place one at
each side of unit, spaced as wide as is
practical, as shown in Figure 49. Grasp
the tip of the lip and pull the deck down
firmly onto the blocks to assure they
remain in position.
