HOLD DOWN BOX SERVICE and REPAIR
LOCK ROLLER and
WEAR STRIP REPLACEMENT
1) Raise dock leveler and position
maintenance strut and traffic barriers as
required for safety. Place a safety stand
between the deck assembly and the lower
frame to assure the deck cannot lower.
Deck must be fully raised.
2) Enter pit area and remove hold down box
cover.
3) Raise the release handle fully and remove
counter weight, Figure 7, Item 7.
4) Using a screw driver or similar tool, reach
through the release stud slot and push the
lock roller, Figure 7, Item 6, up as far as
possible. Reach down through the top of
the box with a second screwdriver and
guide the lock roller up and out.
5) Pry the top of the wear strip, Figure 7, Item
10, forward and remove with vice-grips or
similar tool. Check lock roller channel for
wear. If excessive, replace complete hold
down box assembly.
6) Clean interior of box and install new wear
strip, assuring it is positioned tight against
the rear of the box and fully down.
7) Install new lock roller and then replace
counter weight.
8) Raise and lower the release handle to
assure free movement of the lock roller and
counter weight.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT LUBRICATE
